CALL FOR PAPER: The 5th International Conference of Sport for Development and Peace in Collaboration with 2022 International Conference of Sport History and Culture

The 2022 International Conference on Sport History and Culture will be held in Bandung, Indonesia, on21-24 November 2022, with online and in-person participation. The Conference is jointly organized by the Asian Journal of Sport History & Culture (AJSH&C); the publishers Routledge/Taylor and Francis; The 5th International Conference of Sport for Development and Peace (ICSDP); and the two host universities, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), and Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA).

The conference will incorporate the following sessions:

  1. Presentations from keynote speakers
  2. Parallel Sessions with invited speakers
  3. Presentations from participants
  4. A workshop jointly provided by Taylor & Francis and the AJSH&C editorial board for newly emerging academics on effective peer reviewing of proposals and submissions

Distinguished academics from various relevant disciplines will gather at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia to discuss Asian sports from comparative perspectives. The conference will take place in English and will cover various topics, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Sports policy and development
  • Sport and culture in Asian societies
  • Traditional sports and physical culture in Asia
  • The Olympic Movement in Asia
  • Mega sporting-events
  • Gender and sports in Asian societies
  • Elite and mass sports development
  • Sports market and industry
  • Comparative analysis of sport in Asian societies and other sports cultures and traditions
  • Sport, international relations, and diplomacy
  • The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on sports and physical education
  • Sport for development & peace
  • Youth development through sport
  • Societal outcomes through sports

The conference aims to provide a platform for stimulating and lively interdisciplinary discussions on sports in Asia. It is intended that selected presentations/abstracts will be identified for development and publication in the AJSH&C or the ASEAN Journal of Sport for Development and Peace (AJSDP). A workshop will be held during the conference to assist the contributors in developing their papers for publication.

The ConferenceScientific Sub-committee will review and confirm the acceptance of the conference papers/abstracts.

Key dates in the timetable for submission are as follows:

  • Call for papers: July – August 2022
  • 15 August 2022: Deadline for submission of abstracts (in English)
  • 1-7 September 2022: Response to authors/acceptance of abstracts from Scientific Sub-committee
  • 5 October 2022: Deadline for full paper submission (in English or Indonesian)
  • 15 October 2022: Deadline for the registration fee
  • 1 November 2022: Publication of conference program timetable and abstracts

Selected papers will be published in the Asian Journal of Sport History & Culture (AJSH&C) in July 2024; ASEAN Journals of Sport for Development and Peace (AJSDP) in July 2023; and in the Proceedings of the 5th International Conference of Sport for Development and Peace 2022.
